Thursday 13 March 2025 Fifth Year Students Attend Concern Debate Workshop on Climate Actio On Monday, 10th March, Fifth Year students Madeleine Hardy and Emma Ulmschneider had the opportunity to attend a Concern Debate Workshop in Athlone. The workshop, focused on COP 30, brought together students from across the country who have participated in the Concern Debates programme.

Monday 3 March 2025 Connacht Schools Cross Country Success Well done to Jennifer McCarthy (3rd year) who put in a strong performance at the Connacht Schools Cross Country last week in Loughrea, securing 5th place. Her impressive finish earns her a spot in the All-Ireland Schools Cross Country, where she will represent her school in Ballybrit this coming Saturday.

Monday 20 January 2025 Computer Science Students @ Galway Hackathon In other STEM and coding news on January 18th, Leaving Certificate Computer Science students took part in the second annual Leaving Certificate Hackathon held at The PorterShed2 in Galway. The event, which brought together 6th Year Computer Science students from schools across the country, showcased creativity, collaboration, and technical skill as participants worked on programming projects under the theme of "computer science and wellbeing."

Monday 20 January 2025 VEX Robotics Team Shines in High Stakes Competition On Wednesday, January 15th, the Dominican College VEX Robotics team competed in the VEX V5 High Stakes competition at ATU Galway. This marks the second year the school has participated in the VEX V5 competition, where students design, build, and code robots to take on a new challenge each year. This year's game involved maneuvering plastic ring doughnuts onto stakes.

Wednesday 15 January 2025 Giving Back: Christmas Jumper Day Donation to COPE Galway Today, our 6th Year's presented a cheque to COPE Galway with funds raised from our Christmas Jumper Day! COPE Galway were in to give a talk to the 6th year students. Pictured here are our head girl Isabelle Barton Murphy and deputy head girl Eabheann Conneely along with representatives from COPE Galway. Thursday 19 December 2024 TY Christmas Enterprise Fair 2024 The Transition Year Christmas Enterprise Fair took place today, creating a wonderful festive atmosphere in the school. TY students showcased and sold their products, raising funds for their mini-companies in this Christmas-themed event.

Thursday 19 December 2024 6th Year Students Gain Insights from Alumni in Further Education This week, our 6th-year students attended an informative and practical session with some of last year’s Leaving Cert class, who have since moved on to further education. The event was a great opportunity for students to hear real-life examples and stories about transitioning to college life, helping them make informed decisions about their CAO applications and future options.

Thursday 19 December 2024 Scifest & Maths Olympiad Student Success SciFest AchievementCongratulations to Deepta Suresh, a 3rd-year student, who won the junior category at the TeenTurn SciFest competition held at IBM Dublin last Saturday. Deepta participated in TeenTurn’s Project Squad and impressed the judges with her outstanding project. Her incredible effort earned her a MacBook Air as the top prize. Well done, Deepta!

Monday 2 December 2024 Concern Debate Team Well done to the Concern Debating Team who recently participated in their third debate in the competition. The team opposed the motion that 'Big business is indifferent to the Sustainable Development Goals' with Elphin Community College proposing the motion on the day. The results have yet to be announced but it was a riveting and very close debate between two teams who passionately defended their side.

Wednesday 27 November 2024 Past Pupil named on PFAI Team of the Year Congratulations to past pupil and Galway United player Eve Dossen who made the PFAI (Professional Footballers Association of Ireland) Team of the Year 2024 and was presented with her award recently along with fellow Galway United teammate Julie-Ann Russell.
